Portrait :

From his native car manufacturing Michigan, George moved to Newport, RI to pursue a carreer in ocean sailing. He gave up his idea of going to medical school when he realised he would could not be happy anywhere where he could not see the horizon before him. George graduated with honors in Biological Sciences, concentrating in molecular biology. Since 2003 he has been a professional sailor and sail maker. George keeps a little book and pencil by his side at all times. George attributes winning important races to his determination. "Why bother doing something if it you are not going to go 100 percent?" He can often be seen writing down the effects of various sails in differing winds, so that he can learn which sails will produce the best results.
